When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. You may optionally provide a profile picture (avatar). If you sign in via Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
Usage Data
We automatically collect information about how you use our platform, including quiz attempts, scores, time taken, categories explored, streak activity, and leaderboard positions. This data is used to power your profile, track progress, and improve the platform.
Device & Log Data
Our servers automatically log your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps when you visit the site. This information is used for security, analytics, and debugging.
Cookies & Local Storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to maintain your login session (JWT token) and remember your preferences. We also use third-party cookies from Google AdSense and Google Analytics for advertising and usage analytics.
Referral & Social Data
If you use our referral program, we record the referral link you shared and the accounts that registered through it. Challenge and contest results involving other users are stored to display leaderboards.

Service Providers

Public Leaderboard
Your display name and score are visible on public leaderboards. Your email address is never displayed publicly.
Contest Winner Announcements & Profile Photos
When you win a position (1st–10th) in a contest on GeneralKnowledgeQuiz.in, your display name, rank, score, and profile picture (avatar) may be featured on our home page carousel and/or social announcements to celebrate your achievement. By participating in a contest you consent to this use. If you do not wish your profile picture to be displayed, you may remove your avatar from your account profile before the contest ends.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to the database is restricted to authorised personnel only. While we take security seriously, no system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password for your account.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide our services. Point history entries are automatically deleted after 1 year. Quiz attempt logs may be retained for up to 2 years for analytics. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy
Open to All Ages
GeneralKnowledgeQuiz.in is designed as a free educational resource for students of all ages, including young children. We welcome students from primary school through to competitive exam preparation.
Parental Guidance for Young Children
Children under 13 are welcome to use the platform, but must do so with the assistance and consent of a parent or guardian. Parents or guardians should help young children create their account, choose a safe display name, and supervise their activity on the platform.
Data We Collect from Children
We collect only the minimum information needed to operate the account (display name, email address). We do not request phone numbers, home addresses, or any sensitive personal information. We strongly recommend parents use their own email address when registering on behalf of a young child.
Parental Rights
Parents or guardians may review, update, or request deletion of their child's account and associated data at any time by contacting us. If you believe your child has created an account without your knowledge or consent, please reach out and we will promptly assist you.

- Correction: You can update your name and profile picture from Account Settings
- Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing us
- Opt-out of emails: You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time
- Data portability: You may request a copy of your data in a portable format
10. Changes to This Policy
